Stock Borrowing and Lending

Stock Borrowing and Lending (SBL) is a market mechanism that allows traders to access shares they do not own or monetise their existing holdings without selling. This system facilitates two types of transactions:

Borrowing

Traders can temporarily acquire shares they do not possess.

Lending

Shareholders can earn additional income from stocks they are not planning to sell in the near term.
This facility enhances market liquidity and offers additional strategies for both active traders and long-term investors.

Key Aspects of SBL Transactions

Similar to traditional loans, with agreed-upon interest rates and durations

Lenders provide securities in exchange for collateral from borrowers

Borrowers must return the securities on demand or within a predetermined timeframe
